DOWNEASTER TRAVEL PACKAGES

PAYMENTS:
Payment can be made by personal check, VISA, MasterCard, AMEX or Discover.

Days Prior To Departure Deposit Per Person
60+ Day Prior $100 Non-Refundable or 25% of package price
59 to Departure Full Payment Required

A deposit is due within 3 days of making a reservation or all items are subject to cancellation. Some packages will require additional deposit amounts for non-refundable items like theatre and sporting event tickets.

CHANGES:
One change is allowed complimentary if the change does not require the re-issue of documents. All additional changes within 45 days of departure will incur a $20 fee. Some package items may not be changed. All sporting events and some theatre event tickets may not be changed once booked. Customer is responsible for any price difference due to the change in travel plans.

CANCELLATION:
Cancellations are subject to the following fees:

59-14 Days Prior to Departure For Packages Under $100 – $50 Per Person
For Packages Over $100 50% of the Package Price
14 Days Prior to Departure All Packages are Non-Refundable

Some items are non-refundable once booked. You will be notified at the time of booking.  All sporting event tickets are non-refundable.  Most theatre tickets are non-refundable.

COMPARE AND PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE

DOCUMENTS:
Travel documents are mailed or e-mailed 30-14 days prior to departure. Method for delivery varies by package. All rail tickets will be exchanged at the rail station or on-board the train.

SUBSTITUTE TRANSPORTATION
There may be various days throughout the year where Amtrak performs track repairs on sections of track between Boston and Maine.  NAT is not alerted to these repairs until 30-15 days prior.  In the case where this happens, NAT with work with the Downeaster to accommodate guests with substitute transportation.  If the substitute transportation facilitates passengers to their final destination without a significant delay, we consider this adequate means of transportation.  All terms and conditions remain intact.  If we cannot provide substitute transportation without significant delay, travelers will have the option of a full refund on their package.  A significant delay would be defined as departing and arrival times within 60 minutes of the original departure and arrival times.  In many cases, bus, mini-bus, vans and mini-vans will be used to carry out substitute transportation.  We are not responsible for delays due to traffic or any unforeseen circumstances.

RESPONSIBILITY and LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
The Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority (NNEPRA) is responsible only for the rail transportation it provides in connection with any tour package provided. NNEPRA disclaims liability, and is not responsible for (1) Any act or omission of NAT or any other service provider; or (2) Any accommodations, services, features or other transportation of the tour package.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY OF NORTH AMERICAN TRAVELER
(NAT) is responsible for selecting the suppliers that provide the components part (e.g. hotel accommodations, transfers, tours, restaurants and activities, etc.) for the travel arrangements described in this brochure.

NAT is not responsible for personal injury or property damage caused by any act or omission, intentional, negligent or otherwise, by any direct carrier, hotel or other supplier or service being offered in the vacations package including but not limited to acts of terrorism, acts of god, routing changes, mechanical breakdowns or any other circumstances beyond NAT’s control.

The services described in this document other than carriage by Amtrak, are furnished by independent contractors who are not servants of or joint ventures, agents or partners with NAT.
