Doubtfire The New Musical Comedy
Mrs. Doubtfire: The Musical is a stage adaptation of the beloved 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire, which starred Robin Williams. The musical features a score by Wayne and Karey Kirkpatrick, with a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell.
The story follows the same premise as the film. It centers on Daniel Hillard, a down-on-his-luck actor, who, after a messy divorce from his wife Miranda, takes drastic measures to remain close to his children. To do so, he disguises himself as an elderly Scottish nanny, “Mrs. Doubtfire,” and manages to get a job taking care of his own children—without his ex-wife’s knowledge. His chaotic yet heartwarming journey as Mrs. Doubtfire creates both comedic and emotional moments, as he juggles his dual identity and learns more about himself, his family, and what it means to be a parent.
