Maine has been harvesting oysters for a long time, and now there are over 150 farms along our 3,500 miles of rugged coastline growing a wide and delicious variety. Oysters here grow slowly, soaking up the flavors of the foods they eat and influenced by their water temperature and salinity. You’ll taste the differences as we serve up 3 local varieties on this adventure! Your guide will also educate you on the life and growth of oysters, their history, and curative powers!
Your 2.5 hour adventure will begin at the Portland Beer Hub where you will hand pick two beverages from a wide selection of, ciders, wines, kombucha, and local Maine craft beers to bring and enjoy on board. Then we will walk together to board the newly updated and repurposed UB85 Joseph S. Kennedy. This is a former navy launch built in 1985 that provides new, comfortable seating, a head (bathroom) and ice buckets to keep your beverages and lots of oysters cold!
On your scenic cruise of Casco Bay Harbor, you will be enjoying views of lighthouses, military forts on the nearby islands, marine life and more! On board, guests will treated to fresh oysters as quickly as we can shuck them, along with other seafoods and snacks.
Upon your return, we will disembark where we began, just one block from the start.
