Experience the stories behind America’s revolutionary past at the American Independence Museum!
More than a place to simply learn about our nation’s history, the American Independence Museum provides people of all ages a chance to truly experience it with expanded programming, lively special events, kid-focused exhibits and more! Founded in 1991, the Museum boasts one of the most extensive collections of Revolutionary War Era artifacts you will find anywhere, including a first official copy of the Declaration of Independence and two rare drafts of the U.S. Constitution. The Museum’s signature event is its American Independence Festival, which this year takes place on July 12 in downtown Exeter to commemorate the first reading of the Declaration of Independence in New Hampshire in 1776.
